FIVE PRINCIPLES OF A GREAT GROUP

ONE.
BE PRESENT (AUTHENTIC FAITH) –

Show Up Predictably:
Do not cancel your group plans and reach out to those who miss.

Show up Mentally:
Be prepared to encourage others and silence your phones.

Show up Randomly:
Seek to connect outside the group.

TWO.
CREATE A SAFE PLACE (CLARIFY FAITH) –

Lead the Group:
You set the spiritual temperature of your group. People will only share as deeply as you do.

Respect the Process:
People are to be loved not problems to be fixed.

Guard the Heart:
Openly discuss your expectations for the group when you first start meeting each session.

THREE.
MAKE IT PERSONAL (INSPIRE FAITH) –

Live in Community:
Stay connected with your group coach, other leaders and group life resources.

Set Priorities:
You cannot give to others what you are not receiving yourself. Read. Pray. Listen.

Be Real:
Be honest with yourself and others.

FOUR.
TAKE IT HOME (RADIATE FAITH) –

Make Your Group Family-Friendly:
Take advantage of New Hope’s free child care offer when needed.

Honor Families:
Seek to care not only for group members but their entire families.

Utilize New Hope Curriculum:
The whole family can learn together.

FIVE.
MOVE THEM OUT (ENCOURAGE FAITH) –

Move Them to Someone Else:
Do not get offended if someone leaves your group for any reason.

Move Them to Be the Church:
Lead your group to think outside themselves and serve the community.

Move Them to What’s Next:
Encourage and celebrate when someone leaves your group for kingdom purposes.
