Inciting wonder and helping children embrace a

God who is bigger than their imagination.

Welcome to First Steps!

Our First Steps ministry is more than simply childcare! Each week our volunteers invest in the lives of each child through Bible lessons, songs, prayer, and more. During your child’s years in First Steps, we want to incite wonder helping them embrace a God who is bigger than their imagination.

For questions or to get connected, contact:

Important information for your first visit:

If you are visiting for the first time, stop by Guest Services in the lobby where one of our volunteers will tell you about our Children’s Ministry and will register your kids. From there they will take you and your children down the hall to their First Steps classroom.

First Steps check-in times at our Effingham campus are 8:30-9:00am for first service and 10:15-10:45am for second service. Check-in at Newton is 9:15-9:45am. The rooms are locked after these times in order to keep your kids safe and to avoid interruptions during the lesson.

Your child will be assigned a random number each week. If you are needed for any reason during the worship service, your child’s number will appear on the screen in the auditorium.

Safety is a priority for the Children’s Ministries at New Hope, so background checks are performed on each volunteer to make sure all children are in a safe and secure environment. In order to provide adequate care and attention for each child, we have established maximum room capacities and adult to child ratio guidelines. This allows us to provide the safest possible environment for the children we serve at New Hope Church.

Baby Dedications

Baby dedications are a time for parents to commit to raise their child in the ways of Jesus, and an opportunity for us as a church to partner with you.

Effingham Campus
Baby dedications take place during a Wednesday night class followed by a time of prayer and recognition with the congregation on Sunday morning.

During the class, families and church staff will meet to talk about what it really means to dedicate children to the Lord, have an extended time of prayer over them, and celebrate this milestone event.

Upcoming Dedications:
Wednesday, October 25 (with recognition during services on October 29th). Register here.

Newton Campus
Dedications are scheduled during a Sunday morning service. Email Jonathan Broscious (Campus Pastor) to schedule a dedication.
